For a few people, getting organized is simply a mechanical process. They can donate or toss things out, set up systems and rearrange their belongings with ease. For most people, it’s just not that simple.
Truly getting organized is a process. It takes time, effort, and energy; oftentimes more than people expect. It is more than simply cleaning up and putting things away. It is about making decisions, sometimes difficult ones, about what truly serves you and where those items best serve their purpose in your home. Done thoughtfully and well, true organization will serve you now and into the future.
Expect to Declutter. Most likely, you have things in your environment that no longer serve you. If you wish to truly get and stay organized, it is vital that we remove anything that stands between you and a comfortable, well functioning home!
Expect Emotions. Letting go of or even changing where things live in your home, may stir up discomfort, fear, sadness, or more. This is perfectly normal!
Expect Decision Fatigue. Yes, it is a real thing! Even my most high energy clients can be exhausted after a few hours of making decisions. This is one reason I encourage batch decisions such as “I will let go of anything related to scrapbooking or any clothing not size …..”
Expect a Gentle Push. Helping you to achieve your goals is my top priority. I will kindly push you to reach your goals and respectfully challenge you on decisions that will hinder you in reaching those goals.
Expect No Judgment. As someone who understands what it is like to live in overwhelm, I bring no judgment about you or your space to this process. I am simply here to help make it better.
Expect me to help you through it all. Not only will I help you plan the space you want, declutter, and organize, I also help you over the hurdles of making tough decisions, monitoring your energy and processing your emotions.
Expect to learn how to be more organized in the future. Sometimes becoming disorganized happens as a result of life events beyond our control. However, many times it is the result of our own behaviors. It is my goal to help you change the behaviors that got you where you are now as well as to impart skills that will empower you to organize yourself in the future.
Expect me to take pictures, measurements and ask you questions (maybe a lot!) in order to truly get to know you and your goals, and to make the best plan for your space.
Expect me to be there as scheduled and on time. Barring a true life emergency or illness, I will keep our originally scheduled appointment and will arrive on time.
Expect my undivided attention. I will give you and your project my undivided attention by not making or taking phone calls, checking emails, etc., during our sessions.
